Mechanics Explained
Twisted Teagan's mechanic is Tape theft — a resource penalty on top of the usual Heart damage.
The steal. When she successfully attacks a Toon, she steals 20% of their Tapes — but always at least 20 Tapes. That minimum is the key: with fewer than 100 Tapes, the percentage is actually larger than 20%, making low-Tape players hurt worse. With 100+ Tapes, you're giving up the flat minimum — manageable.
Progressive danger. Because Tapes accumulate as runs progress, and the minimum stays at 20, she becomes more threatening the deeper you go. For Toons whose Abilities cost Tapes — Teagan, Toodles, Finn (v0.14.1 onward), and others — a single hit can lock out their Active Ability at a critical moment.
Her own Trinket is the counter. Teagan's Trinket prevents the Tape theft — but it's generally not recommended since the problem isn't dangerous enough to justify a Trinket slot (100 Tapes are relatively easy to hold).
The "no stakes" case. If your team is planning to spawn Twisted Dandy (a Lethal encounter), Tapes have little worth on that floor — so she's not a big threat then, unless you're one of the Tape-dependent Toons.
How to Counter
- Hold 100+ Tapes. Above 100, the 20% steal is the flat minimum — the math favors you. Below 100, the percentage bite is bigger.
- Don't get hit. She's a roaming chaser with slightly above-average speed — the standard dodge playbook applies. Her 1.75-second attention span means breaking line of sight drops her quickly.
- Tape-dependent Toons beware. If you're Teagan, Toodles, or Finn, getting hit can lock your Ability — treat her as a higher-priority threat and keep distance.
- Distracting her: keep a closer eye on her because of her slightly increased speed — especially in Panic Mode. Her slightly longer attention span (1.75s) makes her a bit trickier to escape than the fastest-dropping Commons.
- Skip her Trinket — the theft isn't dangerous enough to waste a slot (unless you're constantly low on Tapes and getting hit).
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you counter Twisted Teagan?
Hold 100+ Tapes so her 20% steal is just the flat 20-Tape minimum. Don't get hit — she's a standard roaming chaser with slightly above-average speed, and breaking line of sight drops her quickly. Tape-dependent Toons should treat her as a higher-priority threat.
How does Twisted Teagan's Tape theft work?
When she hits you, she steals 20% of your Tapes — minimum 20 Tapes. Below 100 Tapes, the percentage bite is actually larger. She becomes more dangerous as runs progress because Tapes accumulate and the minimum stays flat.
Is Twisted Teagan dangerous?
Low-medium. She doesn't hit hard — the threat is the Tape tax, especially for Toons whose Abilities cost Tapes. In runs where you're planning a Twisted Dandy spawn, Tapes have little worth, so she's nearly harmless there.
What Toons should worry about Twisted Teagan?
Toons with Tape-costing Active Abilities — Teagan herself, Toodles, Finn (v0.14.1 onward) — since one hit can lock out their Ability at a bad moment. Everyone else can treat her as a standard roaming chaser.

How Research Works
Research is the unlock mechanic tied to Twisted encounters: each successful run against a Twisted fills a Research bar. At 100%, the corresponding Toon becomes unlockable (some at 50%). It's the core loop for unlocking Main Characters and higher-rarity Toons.
