Twisted Sprout — Dandy's World Guide: Tendrils & How to Counter

Twisted Sprout is a Main-class Twisted in Dandy's World — the corrupted form of Sprout, and the slowest Main Character Twisted in the game. He's the tendril summoner: his mechanic spawns non-movable tendrils that block paths, Machines, and escape routes. His chase speed is low enough that 4★ Movement Speed Toons can outrun or even out-walk him without Trinkets — but Panic Mode significantly boosts his speed, and his tendrils make him dangerous in cramped spaces. In Blackouts, his dark tendrils blend into the environment — the same trap as Twisted Blot's hands. The community treats him as an area-denial Main: not fast, but able to wall off the map.

Mechanics Explained

Twisted Sprout's mechanic is tendril summons — physical obstacles that reshape the floor.

The tendrils. He spawns non-movable tendrils that block passageways, Machines, and loops. They persist until they dissipate — the time depends on how long he's in your detection range. Getting to a Machine before he's near you reduces/eliminates the tendril wait.

The speed paradox. He's the slowest Main Twisted — 4★ Movement Speed Toons can outrun him easily, and even out-walk him by a tiny margin without Trinkets. But Panic Mode significantly boosts his speed, letting him catch up when it matters most.

Area denial. In cramped rooms with few exits, his tendrils can block your only escape. Open areas with many exits reduce what his tendrils can wall off — and hugging one side of an island or wall reduces the area a tendril covers. Running through a tendril's edge quickly (across the edges) can avoid damage.

The Cosmo synergy. Twisted Cosmo follows Twisted Sprout around — if both are present with no distractors, being seen by one often means being seen by both, forcing a double-chase.

Blackout danger. His tendrils are dark and blend into Blackout environments — similar to Blot's hands. Watch where you're going, keep your camera pointed ahead, and be ready to sprint.

How to Counter

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you counter Twisted Sprout?

Vacate Machines before he enters your detection range, distract him in open areas with many exits (cramped rooms let his tendrils wall you in), and run through tendril edges quickly to avoid damage. As a 4★+ Movement Speed Toon you can outrun or out-walk him — but not in Panic Mode.

How do Twisted Sprout's tendrils work?

He summons non-movable tendrils that block paths, Machines, and escape routes. They persist based on how long he's near you — leaving his detection range early makes them dissipate faster. In Blackouts they blend into the dark environment.

Why is Twisted Sprout dangerous if he's slow?

His tendrils are the threat, not his speed. In cramped spaces they block your only exits; in Blackouts they're nearly invisible. He's also the slowest Main, so players underestimate him — then Panic Mode boosts his speed and his tendrils trap you.

What's the best way to distract Twisted Sprout?

Distract him in open areas and hug one side of an island or wall to reduce the area his tendrils cover. Keep him away from other area-denial Twisteds so their attack radii don't overlap.

Twisted Sprout is the Twisted form of Sprout (Main Character (M-003), tier S). Encountering this Twisted grants Research toward unlocking the playable version. See the Sprout guide →

How Research Works

Research is the unlock mechanic tied to Twisted encounters: each successful run against a Twisted fills a Research bar. At 100%, the corresponding Toon becomes unlockable (some at 50%). It's the core loop for unlocking Main Characters and higher-rarity Toons.
