Mechanics Explained
Twisted Soulvester's mechanic is Machine guarding — a time tax rather than a damage threat.
The guard. He roams the map and idles at Machines — whether complete or incomplete — for 10 seconds. While he's guarding a Machine, extracting it is risky and time-consuming. On floors where he camps the last Machine, he can stall the entire run.
The follow trick. Because he always idles at Machines, following him is a legitimate strategy for finding uncompleted Machines — especially the last one. Watch your distance: getting too close can aggro him and redirect him to another Machine.
The return quirk. Even after you lure him away from a Machine, he can return to that exact same Machine after losing aggro. Don't assume a Machine is safe just because you moved him once.
Low speed, high attention. His slow speed makes escapes easy, but his 3.5-second attention span means shaking him wastes stamina and time unless you're a 4/5★ Movement Speed Toon.
How to Counter
- Watch his path and work around him. If he's approaching your Machine, either wait him out (hide behind an obstacle or island) or escape to another Machine.
- Use him to find the last Machine. He always idles at Machines — follow him (at safe distance) to locate uncompleted ones, especially in the endgame.
- Distracting him is easy. His low speed and high attention make him a dream distractor target — he won't lose interest. Note he may lag behind, so adjust your loop.
- Don't trust a Machine he's left. He can return to the same Machine after losing aggro — check before starting extraction.
- Solo runs: patience is the counter. He camps Machines and slows progression — lure him away or wait him out rather than fighting him. Save stamina for when he spots you.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you counter Twisted Soulvester?
Watch his path and work around him — if he's guarding your Machine, wait him out behind cover or find another Machine. He's slow (easy to escape) with high attention (easy to distract). Use his guard behavior to find uncompleted Machines by following him at safe distance.
How does Twisted Soulvester's Machine guard work?
He roams and idles at any Machine — complete or incomplete — for 10 seconds. While guarding, the Machine is risky to extract. After losing aggro he can return to the same Machine, so don't assume it's safe once he's been lured away.
Is Twisted Soulvester dangerous?
Low-medium. He's slow and doesn't deal much damage — his threat is time denial. He camps Machines, slowing floor progression, especially in solo runs. His 3.5-second attention span also makes shaking him stamina-intensive.
What's the best way to find the last Machine with Twisted Soulvester?
Follow him — he always idles at Machines, so his patrol reveals their locations. Just don't get too close: he can aggro on you and redirect to another Machine.

How Research Works
Research is the unlock mechanic tied to Twisted encounters: each successful run against a Twisted fills a Research bar. At 100%, the corresponding Toon becomes unlockable (some at 50%). It's the core loop for unlocking Main Characters and higher-rarity Toons.
