Mechanics Explained
Twisted Shelly's mechanic is global and passive: the moment she's on the floor, every Toon extracts 25% slower.
The Confused I debuff. All Toons on the floor get -25% Extraction Speed. It doesn't affect movement or combat — it purely slows the objective. For high-Extraction or high-Skill-Check Toons, the impact is minor; for low-extraction Toons, it's painful.
What ISN'T affected: Golden Skill Checks add full completion regardless of the debuff, and Treadmill Machines ignore Extraction Speed entirely (they use mobility stats instead) — so they become priority targets on her floor.
Duo Machines are the counter. Working a Duo Machine with a teammate combines both players' stats, which can reduce, neutralize, or even overpower the Confused I penalty.
Teammate synergies. Shelly's Toon counterpart can nullify the debuff entirely on one Toon and give them a 31.25% Extraction Speed boost. Vee can boost Skill Check chance and Extraction Speed, nearly counteracting Confused I (down to -6.2%). Toons with self-Extraction-Speed abilities (like Tisha or others) can extract at near-average pace despite the debuff.
Ribecca's edge. The Undead makes her completely immune to Confused I — she extracts at full speed while everyone else is slowed, making her excellent on Shelly floors (though she only gets one stat boost per floor, not continuous empowerment).
How to Counter
- Prioritize Treadmill Machines. They ignore the debuff entirely — extract them first when possible.
- Use Duo Machines with a teammate. Combined stats can neutralize or overpower the penalty. Coordinate with your team.
- Golden Skill Checks still count fully. If you can reliably hit golden zones, the debuff matters less — high Skill Check Toons with Magnifying Glass extract fast despite Confused I.
- Play Ribecca if you have her. The Undead immunity makes her immune to the debuff — she extracts at full speed while everyone else is slowed.
- Counter with Shelly or Vee. Shelly's Toon ability nullifies the debuff on one Toon + 31.25% boost; Vee's boost nearly neutralizes it.
- Distracting her: use Movement Speed Trinkets (Speedy Shoes, Dog Plush). A 4★ Toon with these is only slightly faster than her — sprint on turns and in small areas. Her hitbox is larger than Toodles', making her harder to distract; but her higher attention span means she won't lose aggro easily when island-looping.
- Watch for combo floors. She's worse alongside Twisted Vee (Slow II), Twisted Astro (Tired III), or ranged Twisteds — the layered debuffs compound.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you counter Twisted Shelly?
She applies Confused I (-25% Extraction) to the whole floor, so prioritize Treadmill Machines (they ignore it) and Duo Machines (combined stats neutralize it). Golden Skill Checks still count fully. Ribecca is immune via The Undead, and Shelly/Vee abilities can nullify or counter the debuff.
What does Twisted Shelly's Confused I do?
It reduces every Toon's Extraction Speed by 25% for the whole floor. It doesn't affect movement or combat — only how fast Machines complete. Treadmill Machines are unaffected, and Golden Skill Checks add full completion.
What's the best Toon against Twisted Shelly?
Ribecca (The Undead = immune to the debuff) extracts at full speed while others are slowed. Shelly's Toon counterpart nullifies the debuff on one Toon with a 31.25% boost. High-Skill-Check Toons with Magnifying Glass also extract fast despite the penalty.
Is Twisted Shelly dangerous?
Medium — she doesn't damage you directly, but the floor-wide slowdown means more time exposed to other threats and longer distractor duty. Her 20 chase speed is also fast enough to matter. She's a "tax" Twisted that rewards extraction knowledge.

Corresponding Toon
Twisted Shelly is the Twisted form of Shelly (Main Character (M-004), tier S). Encountering this Twisted grants Research toward unlocking the playable version. See the Shelly guide →
How Research Works
Research is the unlock mechanic tied to Twisted encounters: each successful run against a Twisted fills a Research bar. At 100%, the corresponding Toon becomes unlockable (some at 50%). It's the core loop for unlocking Main Characters and higher-rarity Toons.
