Mechanics Explained
Twisted Pebble has no special mechanic — which makes him scarier, not less scary. His threat is raw, unavoidable speed.
The speed math. He runs at 24. 3★ Movement Speed Toons run at 25 — barely ahead. 2★ runs at 22.5, 1★ at 20 — both slower than him. Escaping Items and speed Trinkets aren't optional for slow Toons; they're survival requirements.
The outwalk exceptions. Only a few builds can outwalk him: Looey on 1 Heart or Eclipse in a Blackout with Dog Plush and speed Trinkets (25.41 walk speed), and a handful of Toons with strong walk multipliers (24.2). Outside Panic Mode, these are the only Toons that can walk away from him.
The audio tell. Twisted Pebble only barks and growls while chasing Toons. If you hear his footsteps speed up but no loud barking followed by continued growling, he's heading toward a failed Machine, not a player — don't panic-rush. His footsteps start quiet, so listen for barks or growls, especially in Blackouts.
Panic Mode. In Panic Mode he's faster than nearly everyone — matching the run speed of his Toon counterpart. Only Looey (2–1 Hearts), Eclipse (Blackouts), and 5★ Movement Speed Toons can outrun him; with Suppression, 4★ can too (3★ with both speed Trinkets).
How to Counter
- Don't get seen. He detects Toons at great distances — hide if he has line of sight. Stay away from long corridors and open spaces where you can't break his sightline.
- Listen for his barks. Barking = chasing a Toon; footsteps without barks = heading to a failed Machine. Use the audio to know what he's doing.
- Sharp corners and tight walls. Make sharp movements around corners to slow him down, and cling tightly to walls — watch for outcroppings you might get stuck on. Small islands are hard to kite him around; avoid them without distance.
- Slow Toons: carry escape Items. If you're 2★ or lower Movement Speed, speed Items and escape Trinkets are mandatory while he's on the floor. Save survival abilities (Connie, dash Toons) specifically for him — don't waste them on slower Twisteds.
- Distracting him: you'll need speed Trinkets (Speedy Shoes or Dog Plush are the standard). Find an island, hug it tightly to slow him down, and sprint-tap only when he closes in. If he loses sight of you mid-loop, he can aggro another player — pick a safe area and communicate.
- Watch the Vee synergy. Twisted Vee's debuff helps Pebble reach you faster — if both are present, her periodic debuff is a real danger (Tisha's pulse can deflect it, but on a longer cooldown).
- Panic Mode: be at the Elevator before it starts. If seen, get in the Elevator fast (if no one else is outside), lose sight of him, or pray he's far enough away. Train Whistle prevents the slow debuff that would doom you.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you counter Twisted Pebble?
Avoidance is the primary counter — he has no mechanic, just overwhelming speed. Don't get seen (he detects at long range), use sharp corners and tight walls to slow him, and if you're a slow Toon, carry escape Items. Distractors need speed Trinkets and tight island-looping.
Can you outrun Twisted Pebble?
3★ Movement Speed Toons barely do (25 vs his 24). 2★ and 1★ cannot — they run at 22.5 and 20. Only Looey (1 Heart), Eclipse (Blackout), and a few strong-walk builds can outwalk him. In Panic Mode, only Looey (2–1 Hearts), Eclipse (Blackout), and 5★ Toons escape him.
Why is Twisted Pebble dangerous if he has no ability?
His speed IS the ability. He outruns most Toons and detects at long range, making him nearly impossible to escape once spotted. His huge presence also makes small islands hard to kite around. He's the purest "don't get caught" Twisted in the game.
What's the best way to distract Twisted Pebble?
Speed Trinkets are required (Speedy Shoes or Dog Plush). Find an island and hug it tightly — his large body slows on collisions. Sprint-tap only when he closes in to preserve stamina for Panic Mode. A 4★ Toon can kite him, but ONLY him — other Twisteds will break the loop.

How Research Works
Research is the unlock mechanic tied to Twisted encounters: each successful run against a Twisted fills a Research bar. At 100%, the corresponding Toon becomes unlockable (some at 50%). It's the core loop for unlocking Main Characters and higher-rarity Toons.
