Twisted Gourdy — Dandy's World Guide: Item Feeding & How to Counter

Twisted Gourdy is a Main-class Twisted in Dandy's World — the corrupted form of Gourdy, and the game's item-feeding Twisted. Like Twisted Glisten, he has a meter that must be managed — but instead of proximity, his meter is drained by gifting him Items. Give him any Item (slot 1 first) and his meter resets completely; let it fill and he enrages, gaining a huge speed boost — his enraged stats are 18 walk / 26 chase with a 3-second attention span. Once enraged, there's no calming him. He stays stationary until angered, which makes him unusually predictable in his passive state — but also a constant item tax. In Panic Mode he enrages instantly and becomes one of the fastest threats in the game, outrunning even 5★ Movement Speed Toons. He's the Twisted that tests your inventory management as much as your dodging.

Mechanics Explained

Twisted Gourdy's mechanic is a bribe with a timer.

The item tax. His meter fills over time. Giving him any Item — regardless of value — resets it completely. He always takes the Item in your first inventory slot, which makes slot arrangement a real strategy: keep valuable Items (Bandages, Health Kits) in slots 2–3, and sacrificial Items in slot 1. He warns you when his meter hits the halfway point.

Feeding economics. The meter fills slower with fewer players alive (about 3 minutes for one player, ~106 seconds if 4 of 5 players die on his floor) and faster with more players. Items spawn less with fewer players, so there's real tension between item scarcity and his appetite. The efficient play is letting his meter fill a bit before feeding — but not so long that he enrages.

Permanent enrage. Once the meter fills, he enrages with no way back to passive. And the moment the last Machine completes (Panic Mode starts), he enrages no matter what — so teams must be distanced from him before finishing the floor.

Enraged threat. At enrage, he's faster than most Twisteds, has an extremely short attack cooldown (shared with Main-class enemies), a huge circular vision, and an extreme hearing radius — failing a Skill Check near him is practically a death sentence.

How to Counter

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you counter Twisted Gourdy?

Feed him Items to keep his meter reset — any Item works, and he always takes your first inventory slot, so keep a sacrificial Item there. Keep distance before the last Machine completes (he enrages instantly). If enraged, loop him around a medium island like Twisted Pebble.

How does Twisted Gourdy's feeding mechanic work?

His meter fills over time and drains completely when you give him any Item, regardless of value. If it fills, he enrages permanently with a huge speed boost. He enrages instantly when Panic Mode starts, no matter what.

What's the best Toon to feed Twisted Gourdy?

Cocoa and Yatta can generate Items (Bonbons / Boxes o' Chocolates) to sustain him indefinitely. Bassie's 4 inventory slots hold sacrificial Items and she can rearrange her inventory. Waxwell's 5★ Movement Speed fetches Items fast. Blot can stun an enraged Gourdy with Blot Jr.

Can you calm Twisted Gourdy after he enrages?

No — once his meter fills, there's no way back to passive. Your options are looping him (like Pebble) or running. In Panic Mode, only Eclipse (Blackouts) and Looey (1 Heart) can outrun him without Items or Trinkets.

How Research Works

Research is the unlock mechanic tied to Twisted encounters: each successful run against a Twisted fills a Research bar. At 100%, the corresponding Toon becomes unlockable (some at 50%). It's the core loop for unlocking Main Characters and higher-rarity Toons.
