Twisted Gigi — Dandy's World Guide: Item Theft & How to Counter

Twisted Gigi is a Rare-class Twisted in Dandy's World — the corrupted form of Gigi, and one of the most item-hostile enemies in the game. She runs at 10 walk / 19 chase speed with a 2.25-second attention span (higher than most), and her signature mechanic is Item theft: she extends a hand to steal Items from your inventory, slot by slot from first to last, then carries them to her claw machine. You can retrieve stolen Items from the machine — unless your inventory is full or the machine itself fills up (30 Items max, after which it breaks and theft becomes permanent). Her grab has a 12-second cooldown, and while her arm is stretched out she can't hurt you — that's your bait window. She's a Twisted that turns your inventory into a liability.

Mechanics Explained

Twisted Gigi's threat is economic warfare — she doesn't just damage you, she takes your tools.

The grab. When not on cooldown and you have at least one Item, she attempts a grab that steals from your first inventory slot first, working toward the last. The stolen Item is carried to her claw machine. While her arm is stretched out, she cannot attack — the grab animation is a safe window to bait and reposition.

The claw machine. Stolen Items go into her claw machine, where you can retrieve them — but retrieval is random (you may need multiple attempts for a specific Item), takes 3 seconds of holding, and the Item rolls out as a gachapon ball you have to chase. The machine holds 30 Items; when full, it breaks — no more retrieval, and she steals Items permanently without running to the machine (then idles 5 seconds after each theft).

The behavior pattern. After stealing, she darts straight to her claw machine, ignoring all Toons regardless of Stealth. That's dangerous for distractors — she's hard to re-aggro once she's on her way to stash an Item. Her unique running animation (arms spread, erratic movement) and the Item icon above her head tell you she's in stash mode.

The slot-order exploit. Because she steals slot 1 first, filling your first slot with a niche/throwaway Item protects your valuable Items in slots 2–3. This is the single best defensive trick against her.

How to Counter

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you counter Twisted Gigi?

Fill your first Item slot with a throwaway Item — she steals slot 1 first, so your valuable Items in slots 2–3 are safe. Bait her grab (she can't attack while her arm is out), keep at least one Item when extracting, and retrieve stolen Items from her claw machine when safe.

How does Twisted Gigi's Item theft work?

She steals Items from your inventory in order (slot 1 → last) and brings them to her claw machine. The grab has a 12-second cooldown. You can retrieve stolen Items from the machine, but it's random, takes 3 seconds, and the machine breaks permanently at 30 Items.

What's the best Toon against Twisted Gigi?

Bassie is the strongest counter — her ability drops Items to protect them and retrieves stolen Items from the stash, making her a one-Toon Item recovery system. Bobette can negate grabs with her invincibility (timing-dependent). Any Toon can defend by slot-baiting with a throwaway first Item.

Why does Twisted Gigi ignore me sometimes?

When she's carrying a stolen Item to her claw machine, she ignores all Toons regardless of Stealth — that's her stash mode. She can't attack during it (watch for her unique running animation and the Item icon above her head), so use the window to reposition, then re-aggro her carefully.

Twisted Gigi is the Twisted form of Gigi (Regular, tier A). Encountering this Twisted grants Research toward unlocking the playable version. See the Gigi guide →

How Research Works

Research is the unlock mechanic tied to Twisted encounters: each successful run against a Twisted fills a Research bar. At 100%, the corresponding Toon becomes unlockable (some at 50%). It's the core loop for unlocking Main Characters and higher-rarity Toons.
