Twisted Finn — Dandy's World Guide: Ichor Puddles & Barnaby Latch

Twisted Finn is an Uncommon-class Twisted in Dandy's World — the corrupted form of Finn, and one of the most positionally tricky enemies in the game. He runs at 8.5 walk / 16 chase speed (abysmal for a chaser) with a 1.5-second attention span, but his mechanic makes him dangerous without ever being fast: he spawns 3 Ichor Puddles in random positions on his floor — and the third one hides Twisted Barnaby inside it. Step on the wrong puddle and Barnaby latches onto you, revealing your location to Finn at all times and forcing him to chase you relentlessly, no matter what. The puddles themselves also inflict Ichor debuffs (reduced Movement Speed, smaller Skill Checks, obscured vision). He's the Twisted that turns the floor itself into a trap.

Mechanics Explained

Twisted Finn doesn't chase well — he traps. His entire kit revolves around the Ichor Puddles he spawns.

The puddles. He spawns 3 Ichor Puddles at random positions around the floor. All of them inflict standard Ichor effects when you step in them: reduced Movement Speed, smaller Skill Check size, and partially obscured vision. Avoiding them entirely is the ideal, but an Ichor Leak on the same floor can make that nearly impossible.

Barnaby's puddle. One of the three puddles (the third one spawned) hides Twisted Barnaby. When a player steps on that puddle, Barnaby latches onto them for a set duration — 10 seconds in solo, 15 seconds with 2–4 players, 20 seconds with 4+ — and their location is revealed to Twisted Finn at all times. Finn then chases the latched player no matter what, ignoring every other target.

Visual tells. Twisted Barnaby can be spotted inside a puddle if you look closely — you can also listen for splashing or swimming sounds. And note that Twisted Finn's own color matches Ichor Puddle color, so a "puddle" you see might actually be Finn playing in one.

The counters. Tisha can clean up Finn's puddles — and if she cleans the puddle Barnaby is in, Barnaby is forced out. Goob and Connie can also bait the latch and shake it off with their abilities. Ichor-immune Toons (like Flutter, Gigi, and others) can pass over puddles safely, though Barnaby can still latch onto them and slow them.

How to Counter

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you counter Twisted Finn?

Check every Ichor Puddle before crossing — the third one hides Barnaby, who latches onto you and reveals your location to Finn. If you get latched, locate Finn, find a close hiding spot, and loop an island until Barnaby releases. Tisha can clean the puddles and force Barnaby out.

How does Twisted Barnaby's latch work?

Stepping on the puddle that hides Barnaby makes him latch onto you for 10s (solo), 15s (2–4 players), or 20s (4+ players). While latched, your location is revealed to Twisted Finn at all times, and he chases you relentlessly.

What Toons counter Twisted Finn?

Tisha is the strongest counter — she cleans his puddles and forces Barnaby out. Goob and Connie can bait the latch and shake it off. Ichor-immune Toons (Flutter, Gigi) pass over puddles safely, though Barnaby can still latch and slow them.

Why can't I see Twisted Finn in Blackouts?

His short height and dark color make him one of the harder Twisteds to spot in darkness. Use Brightney or Vee's highlighting abilities, and stay alert — his slow speed means he can appear in unexpected places or circle back on you.

How Research Works

Research is the unlock mechanic tied to Twisted encounters: each successful run against a Twisted fills a Research bar. At 100%, the corresponding Toon becomes unlockable (some at 50%). It's the core loop for unlocking Main Characters and higher-rarity Toons.
