Mechanics Explained
Twisted Boxten has no abilities to aid him — his Twisted Research explicitly notes this. He's a pure roaming chaser: he walks the floor, spots Toons, and chases them at average speed.
What makes him worth studying is his stealth profile. Unlike louder Twisteds, Boxten has minimal audio cues and a darker color palette, so he's easy to lose track of — especially during Blackouts, where he can close distance before you even register him. He's also one of the Common Twisteds that behave identically to a couple of others in his class, which is why you'll see him constantly and learn his patterns quickly.
Because he has no abilities, the counter-play is pure fundamentals: stamina management and line-of-sight discipline.
How to Counter
- Preserve 40–70 Stamina when he's on the floor. It's enough to outrun him consistently, and running dry mid-chase is how runs end — especially on later floors where you get chased constantly.
- Break line of sight to lose him. He has no special tracking, so an obstacle, corner, or island breaks his chase. Get out of his vision and keep moving.
- Sprint-tap when low on stamina. If you're nearly empty, short sprint taps cover ground while letting your stamina regenerate a little — better than walking or full sprinting.
- Stay alert in Blackouts. His dark palette makes him hard to spot. Watch for movement rather than relying on audio, and keep obstacles nearby to duck behind.
- Learn the fundamentals on him. Since he's identical to a couple of other Common Twisteds, mastering Boxten teaches you the baseline dodge pattern that applies to most of the class.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you counter Twisted Boxten?
He has no abilities, so it's pure fundamentals: keep 40–70 stamina in reserve, break line of sight when he spots you, and sprint-tap if you're low. Watch for him in Blackouts — his dark palette makes him easy to miss.
Is Twisted Boxten dangerous?
Not especially — he's a low-threat Common with average stats and no abilities. The main danger is carelessness: running out of stamina or losing track of him in a Blackout. He's the ideal Twisted to practice dodging on.
How much Research does Twisted Boxten give?
Standard encounter Research: 5% on first encounter with 5 Tapes (Rodger collects 10%). Boxten is a Common Toon, so his Research is quick to complete compared to Main Characters.
Does Twisted Boxten have a special ability?
No. His Twisted Research confirms he has no abilities — pure roaming and chasing. That makes him predictable and easy to counter once you've learned his patterns.

How Research Works
Research is the unlock mechanic tied to Twisted encounters: each successful run against a Twisted fills a Research bar. At 100%, the corresponding Toon becomes unlockable (some at 50%). It's the core loop for unlocking Main Characters and higher-rarity Toons.
