Mechanics Explained
Twisted Blot flips the normal Twisted formula: he's passive by design. He sits on the floor and periodically wakes to reposition his two Ichor arms. Getting close to his main body is harmless — but unlike other passive Twisteds, being near him does not grant Research, Tapes, or event currency unless you interact with the arms.
The arms are the real threat. Each Ichor arm slams down when a Toon gets too close. They have a short windup before striking — that telegraph is your dodge window. After a slam, the arm is stunned for about 1 second, which is your safe window to walk past it. If an arm changes location mid-attack, you won't take damage.
Research comes with risk. The 5% encounter Research and Tapes come from the arms, not the body. The common trick: walk to the very edge of an arm's range to trigger the attack (and the Research), then sprint back out before the slam lands. Slower Toons will find this harder.
How to Counter
- Use the windup. Arms telegraph before striking. Stick to the edge of an arm's range and leave the moment it starts winding up — both arms have short range, so escape is usually easy.
- Exploit the 1-second stun. After an arm slams, it's stunned. Walk past it during that window instead of waiting for it to sink.
- Never AFK near his body. He can summon an arm directly on top of his main body — idling there is how players lose hearts for free.
- Check dead-end Machines. Floors with Machines in dead ends are dangerous with Blot: his arms can block the only exit. If the last Machine is in a dead end, don't finish it until the arm sinks — finishing it can trap you against Panic Mode.
- In Blackouts, walk carefully. His arms blend into the dark atmosphere, just like Twisted Sprout's tendrils. Communicate arm positions to teammates.
- Ichor Leak danger: if an arm spawns over an Ichor puddle, the puddle's debuff makes dodging much harder. In Panic Mode, find another route to the Elevator — taking 1 Heart is better than dying to the timer.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you counter Twisted Blot?
He doesn't chase — treat him as terrain. Watch the arms' windup, dodge before they slam, and walk past during their 1-second stun window. Never AFK near his body, and check dead-end Machines before extracting.
How do you get Research from Twisted Blot?
The Research and Tapes come from his Ichor arms, not his body. Trigger the arm's attack by stepping to the edge of its range, then sprint back out — you get the 5% encounter Research and 5 Tapes (Rodger: 10%) at the cost of dodging one slam.
Can Twisted Blot attack from range?
Not exactly — his arms are placed around the map and strike in melee range of their position. The effective threat is his map-wide area denial: arms can block hallways, Machines, and distractor loops.
Why is Twisted Blot dangerous in Blackouts?
His Ichor arms blend into the dark atmosphere, making them easy to run into accidentally. Walk carefully and communicate where the arms are so teammates don't walk into a slam.

How Research Works
Research is the unlock mechanic tied to Twisted encounters: each successful run against a Twisted fills a Research bar. At 100%, the corresponding Toon becomes unlockable (some at 50%). It's the core loop for unlocking Main Characters and higher-rarity Toons.
