Mechanics Explained
Twisted Astro works on two layers: passive map pressure and active debuff pressure.
Global alert hearing. Failed Skill Checks, Airhorn usage, and Vee's ability all pull him from anywhere on the floor. He doesn't just path over — he runs straight to the Machine the failure happened on and drains half its progress. This means a careless Skill Check mid-floor can cost you a nearly-finished Machine and bring a Main Twisted to your position at the same time.
Tired III on sight. When he spots a Toon, he applies Tired III for 10 seconds. Tired III heavily slows stamina regeneration — after you break line of sight, you still feel it, which can leave you drained right when another Twisted picks up the chase.
Panic Mode boost. Like most Twisteds, he gains a notable speed increase during Panic Mode, making the stamina drain far more punishing at floor-end.
How to Counter
- Keep 40–70 stamina in reserve before triggering anything loud. If he's on the floor, treat every Skill Check as a potential aggro event.
- Stamina-regen Trinkets are your best counter: anything that speeds up stamina regeneration neutralizes most of Tired III's sting. Movement-speed Trinkets are a decent alternative.
- Ribecca hard-counters him. Her passive, The Undead, makes her completely immune to Tired III — she can out-walk him and save teammates who are low on stamina or on one Heart.
- High-mobility Toons handle him best. Yatta's mobility shrugs off the debuff; slow, low-stamina Toons like Gigi will struggle and should carry stamina items (Pops, Stamina Candies, Protein Bars).
- Distracting him solo is manageable — his speed is only slightly above average. The danger is stacking: if he chases alongside a faster Twisted, the Tired III will drain you before you can escape both.
- During Ichor Leaks, be extra careful. The Ichor puddle debuff stacks with Tired III, and the leak's own skill-check penalty makes his global hearing far more punishing.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you counter Twisted Astro?
Bring stamina-regeneration items or Trinkets, keep a stamina reserve before any loud action (Skill Checks, Airhorns), and if you're a low-stamina Toon, stay far from Machines until he's distracted. Ribecca is the strongest counter thanks to The Undead immunity.
How do you get Research from Twisted Astro?
Encountering him grants encounter Research (5% on first encounter, like most Twisteds; Rodger grants 10%). Astro is a Main Character, so you'll need 100% Research to unlock the playable Astro.
Why does Twisted Astro run to my Machine?
Because he hears failed Skill Checks, Airhorns, and Vee's ability from anywhere on the floor. If a Skill Check fails at your Machine, he charges over and drains half its progress — don't start risky extraction while he's unoccupied.
What's the best Toon to distract Twisted Astro?
A 5-star Movement Speed Toon (or a 4-star with a speed Trinket) can out-walk him comfortably. Tisha and Looey (in Blackouts) can outwalk him easily, especially with Dog Plush. Avoid slow, low-stamina Toons for the distractor role.

Corresponding Toon
Twisted Astro is the Twisted form of Astro (Main Character (M-002), tier S). Encountering this Twisted grants Research toward unlocking the playable version. See the Astro guide →
How Research Works
Research is the unlock mechanic tied to Twisted encounters: each successful run against a Twisted fills a Research bar. At 100%, the corresponding Toon becomes unlockable (some at 50%). It's the core loop for unlocking Main Characters and higher-rarity Toons.
