How to Get Every Main Character in Dandy's World - Full Unlock Guide
Main Characters are the strongest Toons in Dandy's World — they have the rainbow border in Dandy's Store, the best stats, and the game-changing actives. But they're not free. Every Main Character needs a combination of Ichor, Research on their Twisted form, and Mastery quests. This guide breaks down exactly how to get each one, so you can plan your grind instead of guessing.

What is a Main Character in Dandy's World?
Main Characters are a special tier of Toons with a rainbow border in Dandy's Store. There are eight playable Mains: Astro, Bassie, Bobette, Gourdy, Pebble, Shelly, Sprout, and Vee. They're stronger than regular Toons and usually require the most work to unlock. Some of them (Bassie, Bobette, Gourdy) are event-limited — they can only be bought with event currency during their holiday event, so if you miss them, you wait a year.

The Three Requirements Explained
Before we get to each Toon, here are the three gates you'll need to pass for almost every Main:
### 1. Ichor
Ichor is the main currency in Dandy's World. You earn it by completing floors, filling Machines, finding Research Capsules, and even using your Toon's active ability. Mains cost anywhere from 3,000 to 5,000 Ichor (or 3,000 event currency). If you're short, see our how to get Ichor guide for the fastest farming methods.
### 2. Research on the Twisted version
Every Main Character requires 100% Research on their Twisted counterpart. You get Research % by encountering and surviving against that Twisted. This is usually the slowest gate — it forces you to actually play floors where that Twisted appears and keep surviving encounters.
### 3. Mastery quests (except Astro)
Most Mains also require full Mastery on another specific Toon. Mastery is a set of quests per Toon — complete them all and you unlock the gate. This means you'll need to play as that Toon for a while. The one exception is Astro, who has no Mastery requirement.

Every Main Character, One by One
### Astro (M-002) — 5,000 Ichor, no Mastery
Astro is the easiest Main to unlock in terms of requirements: he needs no Mastery quests, just 5,000 Ichor and 100% Research on Twisted Astro. He's worth the grind — his active Nap Time fully restores nearby Toons' stamina (60s cooldown), and his passive Well Rested makes stamina regen 50% faster. The community ranks him S+ for surviving and S for support, making him one of the best team anchors in the game.
### Sprout (M-003) — 4,500 Ichor + Mastery on Cosmo
Sprout is the dedicated healer Main. His active heals one target Toon a Heart for 100 Tapes (cooldown 100), and his passive shows every alive Toon's location and health. He needs full Mastery on Cosmo — fitting, since Cosmo is his baking buddy in lore. Cosmo costs 1,000 Ichor and has his own heal active, so you'll learn support play before you even unlock Sprout.
### Shelly (M-004) — 4,250 Ichor + Mastery on Poppy
Shelly is the best extractor in the game — community tier lists put her at S+ for Extracting, above even Vee. Her active boosts a selected Toon's extraction speed by 75% for 15 seconds (60s cooldown), and her passive gives her a 25% speed boost whenever any Machine completes. She needs full Mastery on Poppy, the free starter Toon, which makes her a natural early-to-mid game goal.
### Vee (M-005) — 4,500 Ichor + Mastery on Brightney
Vee is the extraction specialist with the highest Extract stat in the game (5/5). Her active highlights all Twisteds and Machines on the floor for 5 seconds (50s cooldown) — incredibly useful for planning your route. Her passive shows her the two nearest uncompleted Machines. She needs full Mastery on Brightney (1,250 Ichor + experience 5 Blackouts to unlock). Vee is a fan favorite and a top-tier pick for any team.
### Pebble (M-001) — Mastery on another Toon
Pebble is the first Main in lore order (M-001) and a strong distractor/support Toon. He requires 100% Research on Twisted Pebble and full Mastery on another Toon (check the in-game requirement for the exact one — it changes with updates). The community ranks him S for distracting, great for kiting Twisteds.
### Event Mains: Bobette, Bassie, Gourdy
These three Mains are only available during their holiday events, bought with event currency (3,000 each):
- Bobette (Christmas, Ornaments) — 3,000 Ornaments. Her active hides her in a gift box, invincible for 8s but immobile (90s cooldown); her passive gives nearby Toons faster stamina regen and a speed boost.
- Bassie (Easter, Baskets) — 3,000 Baskets. Her active drops items from her inventory to share with teammates; her passive adds an extra inventory slot.
- Gourdy (Halloween, Pumpkins) — 3,000 Pumpkins. The spooky pumpkin Toon, released for the 2025 Halloween event.
If you're new, don't stress about these — they come back every year during their event. Focus on the four permanent Mains first.
Tips for the Grind
1. Farm Ichor efficiently. Complete floors and Machines consistently. Use our Ichor farming guide — the fastest method is filling Machines and clearing floors, plus grabbing Research Capsules when they spawn.
2. Research comes from surviving Twisteds. You can't rush it — play floors where your target Twisted spawns and survive encounters. Teaming up helps: more encounters survived, more research.
3. Do Mastery quests with your daily play. If you need Mastery on Poppy (for Shelly), just play Poppy for a while and the quests complete naturally. Don't grind it all in one session — spread it out.
4. Buy the cheaper Toons first. Cosmo (1,000), Brightney (1,250), and Poppy (free) are the Mastery gates for the three best Mains. Unlocking them early sets up your whole Main Character plan.
5. Don't hoard event currency for Mains you don't want. If you're not interested in Bobette, spend Ornaments on other event items you'll actually use.
